The Bermuda Race Organizing Committee has chosen Cruising
World magazine as its exclusive marine print partner for the 2010 Newport Bermuda Race. Cruising World will publish the race’s official program and represent the race to potential sponsors.
“We're very excited about our relationship with Cruising World,” said BROC chairman Bjorn Johnson. “The magazine is a longtime supporter of ocean sailing and all that the Bermuda Race stands for. As a sponsor of Safety at Sea Seminars, Cruising World has helped countless offshore sailors sail better and more safely.”
Sailed every two years, the Newport Bermuda Race is one of the world’s premier ocean races, starting at Newport, R.I., and crossing 635 miles of blue water to finish at Bermuda’s St. David’s Lighthouse. Co-managed by the Cruising Club of America and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, the race historically attracts international fleets of 150 or more boats. Founded in 1906, the race will have its 47th start at Newport on June 18, 2010.
Cruising World, with editorial offices in Middletown, Rhode Island, is published by Bonnier Corporation. Sally Helme, publisher of Cruising World, Sailing World, and Power Cruising, said, “Cruising World is pleased that the Cruising Club of America and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club have chosen us to publish the official program for one of the world’s top ocean races and to present the race to potential sponsors. With boats and crews from 37 states and 22 countries, the Newport Bermuda Race has a large national and international following and provides a unique, powerful blend of exposure for Cruising World and for race sponsors.”
