Olin J. Stephens II has been elected to the Bermuda Race Roll of Honour on the 80th anniversary of the first of his many races to “the Onion Patch.” No yacht designer has produced more prize-winners over the race’s 102-year, 45-race history.

All yachts sailing to Bermuda are invited to enter the RBYC Anniversary Regatta in Great Sound on June 27. The Regatta is part of the Onion Patch Series, but all yachts with endorsed IRC certificates are welcome, even if they are not participating in the Onion Patch.

As of the April 1 close of entry, 224 boats had met the race entry application deadline. A total of 214 boats have been cleared to enter the race, with another 10 applications still under consideration. With an April 1 entry deadline approaching, the 2008 fleet is expected to be the second largest in Newport Bermuda Race history. About 220 yachts are expected to be on the starting line off Castle Hill, Newport, on June 20.
